October. Do you know what this means? It's almost November, a.k.a. National Novel Writing Month. A time for only the elite of the insane to join together metaphorically and bring out their intellectual toolboxes. It honestly reminds me of this video for the Insanity workout program. And yes, I will be joining them this year.
I think all writers should give writing 50,000 words in 30 days a shot. The idea is that first drafts are always crap, so why not push yourself to get them out quicker? It's Sturgeon's Law in challenge form, and I think that's great. Write now, edit later, and probably annoy your friends and family. Are you thinking of participating this year?
The pros are that you will have 1. a halo around your profile picture 2. bragging rights and 3. finally accomplished something. Go you! Cons? It's stressful. Go to nanowrimo.org and browse the forums, tuck away your inner editor, and get ready to write! You'll do awesome. When you hit your daily word count (1,667) do something you enjoy.
Basically, I don't want to do this alone. Tell me how you guys are doing. I've got my plot nearly figured out. I have a main character who meditates in a canoe and reaches a level of openness it's as if nature is speaking to her. Eventually her and a water nymph begin to communicate. Would you read a book like this? Tell me what you guys think, and have a nice day! :)
